Imua Coffee Roasters
About This Spot
Stepping into Imua Coffee Roasters in Kapaʻa feels a bit like finding a quiet nook in the midst of island life’s vibrant rush. With a gentle hum of conversation and the rich aroma of freshly roasted beans lingering in the air, this spot offers a calm, deliberate pace—a place where the act of savoring coffee becomes its own form of slow ritual. The space invites you to linger, whether inside where soft light filters through updated interiors or outside beneath the Hawaiian sun, where a cozy seating area offers a welcome moment of peace and connection.
The heart of Imua Coffee Roasters is its plant-based approach, woven thoughtfully into both the drinks and food offerings. Here, classic espresso beverages take on a fresh dimension, balancing smooth, carefully crafted flavors with imaginative touches like coconut whipped cream or superfood powders. It’s a place where cappuccinos and cortados sit comfortably alongside iced espresso oatmilk blends and the gentle earthiness of matcha lattes. Meanwhile, the menu’s baked goods—rich in local ingredients like macadamia nuts and banana—add a grounded, comforting layer to the experience without ever feeling overly sweet or complex.
What makes the visit especially genuine is the space’s glow beyond the coffee; it’s a community haven for those who appreciate thoughtful care in every cup. The staff’s approachable knowledge and warm interactions deepen this sense of belonging, welcoming both long-time locals and curious visitors alike. Whether you’re drawn by a golden milk latte or the subtle spice of the horchata, Imua Coffee Roasters feels less like a stop on your itinerary and more like a quiet moment to savor—one where the good company might just be the friendly barista sharing the story behind each roast.

Lovely spot of refuge in tourist paradise. Plant based paradise! lovely space to sit outside. Great variety of plant based breakfasts, multiple non dairy milks alternatives. Friendly staff!

There’s a table at the back of the shop — it’s really cozy and quiet, which I love. It seems like they recently updated the interior a bit and added some new food items to the menu. One thing to note: they don’t offer whole milk. It’s great for vegetarians, but I personally prefer my latte with whole milk, so that was a little disappointing. The coffee tastes fresh and unique, and they sell their house-roasted beans, so if you like the flavor, I recommend picking some up. Also, not many coffee shops are open on Mondays, but this one is. Good to know!

One of our favorites in Kapa’a! The flavor of the coffee is amazing, love that they are a plant based coffee shop. Even if you aren’t vegan…try it. All their food and drinks are delicious. Golden milk is my favorite and my husband likes their lattes and the favorite drink. They also serve yummy banana bread. You can also get things like avocado toast and yogurt and grandpa bowls. It’s right next to Islander on the Beach and the Coconut Marketplace.

Charming coffee spot with delicious brews! I tried the iced latte with lavender syrup and their oat/soy blend, made with 42 espresso beans—super smooth and just right. Plus, they have a cozy outdoor seating area to enjoy your drink in peace! The barista is very knowledgeable and informative. She took the time to share details about the different coffee blends and provided recommendations for coffee options. Definitely recommend this place.

Great place for freshly roasted coffee. Purchased decaf peru and caffinated sumatra. It was great talking to the owner/roaster and watching him roast a batch. I had a iced coffee black and it was good.

A little hidden gem for early risers. If you love plant based milk, this place is perfect. I usually love my almond or soy latte, to add a bit mac nut flavor makes it so yummy. The crew is also very friendly.

Nice coffee shop with outdoor seating area. Just a heads up, they do not have dairy milk. They have a great selection of non-dairy alternatives though! The bakery items looked delicious and they had coffee from multiple destinations in South/Latin America.
